Welcome to the Bath Alliance for Transport and Public Realm website. We invite you to browse and learn about the Alliance, its members and its mission to encourage action to resolve Bath’s transport problems. Although we seek primarily to support B&NES Council with its Bath transport programme, through this website we aim also to reach the full range of Bath organisations and individuals that have vital stakes in an excellent transport system for the city.

A great deal is happening at the moment on transport in Bath. The existing transport policy framework for Bath is set out in the documents at the ‘Bath Transport Policy’ tab. The Council has declared a Climate Emergency and has the aim of ‘being carbon neutral by 2030, and tackling the current climate and ecological emergencies’.  It seeks to reduce the major contribution that motor vehicles make to CO₂ emissions. 

Recently B&NES Council has published a number of policy documents for comment: Partial Update to the Local Plan; ‘Bath City Centre Security – Permanent Access Restrictions’, with the aim of ‘keeping the city’s streets and spaces safe and secure from the threat of terrorism’; and ‘the Journey to Net Zero’ (an update of the earlier ‘Bath Transport Delivery Action Plan’).
